The struggle to keep up with my old hair routine
Before I had kids, I used to love doing my hair.
I’d wake up early, make myself a nice coffee, and spend 30 or 40 minutes with my blow dryer and curling iron until everything was smooth, shiny, and styled just the way I liked.
It felt like part of taking care of myself — a small moment of peace before the day started.
But everything changed once I became a mom.
Suddenly, I was lucky if I could even shower without a tiny human banging on the bathroom door.
Styling my hair felt impossible:
I’d try to grab a few minutes between feedings or while the baby napped, but something always interrupted.
Every time I plugged in the dryer, the baby would cry.
Every time I picked up my curling iron, my toddler needed help finding his favorite stuffed animal (which, of course, was always missing right when I had five minutes alone).
I can’t count how many mornings I ended up with my hair half-dried, half-curled, and then gave up entirely — pulling it into a messy bun I was embarrassed to wear out.
And honestly?
Even when I somehow found the time, I felt like I was using so much heat that I was frying my hair.
My ends were dry, I had constant frizz, and the whole process left me frustrated and exhausted before the day even began.
I started to think: Maybe having nice hair just wasn’t realistic for moms.
How I found a way to actually do my hair again
One Saturday, I was at my friend Rachel’s house for her son’s birthday.
Between chasing kids and wiping frosting off faces, I couldn’t help noticing how perfect her hair looked — smooth, shiny, like a fresh salon blowout.
I finally asked: “Seriously, how do you have time for that with three kids?”
She smiled and said, “I don’t! I use this 5-in-1 tool my stylist recommended. It replaces my dryer, straightener, and curler — I’m done in 15 minutes.”
I thought it had to be one of those expensive tools I’d seen online, but she told me hers cost under $100.
That night, after putting my kids to bed, I looked it up.
It was called the Airbrush 5-in-1 — and I ordered it on the spot.
